Finally got my ID!

After loooong bouts of wailing (inside my home, to the gods of fate or someone...) I now have the userpic I wanted. I had it in mind, like, forever, but I never could take it (no time, not the right weather, not in the mood, something else, whatever...) and I had to go without, wimpering silently when looking at my site...

But not anymore!! Yesterday was the day! Weather was perfect (pouring early summer rain...yes, I'm slightly insane, we've been over that already...I think...if not, you know now...*manic grin*), air a little chilly but not to cold (since I was wearing a jacket and walking around and all...) and enough time for the plan. The plan being to circle the lake and find the right spot to take the awesome picture I wanted to be my LJ ID.

Now I have an userpic nicely conveying the meaning of Colours of Rain I always had in mind. *bouncing happily all over the place*

For those interested: Pic was taken at the Johannapark in Leipzig, by the lake with the bridge.

So that's that, and a short post all about a photo, and all's well now. Next time, if I ever have time again, there's gonna be some content as well. The Horror!

With a happy wave, your Colours of Rain.

Wiebittewas?

…Ach was, nöö…)

Aardvark, Aardvark, Aardvark...

A new series! And probably all English, woohoo!

In this I'm gonna complain about all those obvious faults, disasters and disappointments in various stories. Official stories. Yes, that means books, movies, tv shows. Not all of them, of course, since I most certainly don't know/remember all. And I don't care so much about some. Just the things I would change if I owned the story.

First, as you can see, is Smallville. Oh dear...

There is actually just one thing I want to change – not mentioning the missing Lex since season 8, because we all know that was a nightmare...seriously, what use is Smallville without Lex? Honestly! – and that's the broken-friendship-thing.

Now before you start screaming it had to happen since they were enemies in the original story of Supe, yes, I do know that! But really, it was all there! They were friends! They would have been great staying friends!

And it would have been so damn easy! Clark just needed to trust his best friend and Lex just had to have a little patience! Martha loved Lex, Lex was not Lionel and Clark and Lex were best fiends!

Yes, it wouldn't have been a prequel story then, since that wouldn't have fit with the original Supe background, but honestly! I cried so hard when the point of friendship-breaking finally came, it wasn't even funny... And I knew it would, of course.

No, doing it this way, it wouldn't have been a show so many people would have wanted to see, but fucking hell, we, the fans wanting to go there and fix it, would have cried with joy, if it was...

And for those of us who want the whole package (yes, that includes me), that awesome other thing was there as well! Or at least, it could have been!

Those of you now sitting there staring at the screen like oO?, I'm talking about our boys becoming the Clex. Yes, that means they would be a couple. As in loving each other. Yes, I know they're both boys. Yes, that's possible. Don't hyperventilate now, you won't catch the plague thinking about two boys doing smut. Yes, I promise.

Oh dear, that would have been a show... And probably with even more people watching, because, you know, we're a massive lot.

We'd loved this... Easy, girls, not hyperventilating now, it wasn't and we still have to do with fanfiction instead. ^^

Still, we have them at least, even if those idiots who own Smallville won't make the plot like we want it to be. Damn.

But if I ever get those copyrights (by gift of god or bad weather or for whatever the hell kind of reason), I promise to redo the show into Clex just for the heck of it. And then all of us are gonna have a big Clex party watching it! It's gonna be great! ^^

Until then, let's hope someone will give me the rights... ^^

In hopes those authors will never run out of Clex plots, have wonderful dreams tonight, your Colours of Rain!

Quote of the day – what's that?

I decided to post quotes I feel like sharing at random times (when I feel like it, not actually daily) just for the heck of it. They will be both German and English. And from various places. And probably not all with their creator, since some will be from around the internet and I might not remember who made them... Or more like I never even knew, since I'm taking them from storage. Yes, I have them saved.

They probably will follow the order I noted them in, so they might not fit the rest of my possible posts that day, but I want them in order anyway...

I'm not stealing them, I will make it quite clear they're not mine if they aren't.

I just want to share them, since I find them great, or funny, or socially important or something.

If you happen to see one you know the creator of, or are the creator, please tell me and I will add the name at the end.

As you see, first one is in German. And with credits.

So long.

Now what's this about English?

I learned English like every German student does – in school. But. That's schools English. You get around, but it's not the cake of glory. (And yes, I just made that up.) It didn't matter much, I didn't need more. At least, not at first...

But then there was this story...

Let's head back a bit...

I kinda stumbled upon fanfiction quite by accident – a friend introduced me to CSI FF and the leap to Harry Potter wasn't all that big.
I quickly found some stories I practically inhaled (looking back at them now, they weren't all that good, but I was young and still learning back then ^^) and all was good. Then I crashed into this one story – the one I already mentioned. It had a first part all German and completed (I'm horrible at waiting) and I loved it. I knew (because the writer mentioned it in first chapter, of course) it was a translation. I also knew it had a sequel.
My very much loved-by-then translating writer had the first 3 chapters up in German already and I ate them up in minimal time. Then came the problem... There was no going on, my translator didn't get around to translating.

I really am toast at waiting.

So, being the impatient hardhead I am, I took the leap and got to the English original. It worked. And quite good at that.
So I got risky. I expanded my searching areas into English stories and I found...I found a lot. I was reading like mad and thus, my English skills improved – dramatically.

Still no reason to switch? No, you're right. That came later. Like this: One fine night I was sleeping peacefully, when suddenly I had a new sort of dream. No, not that kind. Pervert.
I had a dream in English. Remember, I'm born in Germany and still living there.

I woke up the next morning, feeling surprised – and a little confused. How is it that a German girl suddenly starts dreaming in English? No, I have no answer to that.
But the unexpected foreign-language-dream started a habit – an unconscious one, I might add.
I had the occassional odd English dream once in a while ever since, but there was more... I started talking to my interior in English as well. (The English part was new, the talking-to-interior part was not – yes, I talk to my furniture – like you're not... See? You just screamed at your screen... ^^)
I started thinking in English at random times through the day as well. And no, I'm not insane... At least not enough to be concerned about...

Ever since then, I kept this habit of sudden switches to English. It shortens certain things, after all. (Some things just undeniably take less time when said – or thought – in English.)

And it improves my skill with the language. That can't be a bad thing, now can it?

And last, it's actually great fun.

So, there you go, now you have all the information you never wanted about this particular quirk of mine. Let's have some fun now!

Bye, till the next time someone forces you to read my journal. ^^

Was gibt es hier zu sehen?

Gedankensprünge. Absonderlichkeiten. Switching to English in the middle of the sentence. Yes, I will. Why? I might explain that later. Bye the way, if you happen to be a natural speaker, please feel free to point out mistakes I might make, it's the only way to improve after all. Grübeleien über Dinge ohne jeglichen Wert. Alles. Nichts. Alles dazwischen.

Sehen wir mal, wohin die Reise geht...
